About Kentridge Runner
Kentridge Runner is woven flatter than our living room rugs on purpose. Hallways and stairs get walked on more than any other surface in the house, so we drop the pile height and tighten the weave to handle that traffic without wearing thin in the middle. The jute base underneath grips better on wood stairs than a loose weave would. We cut each runner to length from a wider loomed roll, then finish the edges by hand so they don't fray. The wool is dyed with plant-based pigment before weaving, which is why the color runs consistent from one end of a long hallway run to the other.

Yes, the flat weave and jute base are built for stair use. We recommend stair rods or grippers for extra hold on steep stairs.
Can I cut it shorter myself? +
We recommend ordering the exact length you need, since our edges are hand-finished at the factory to prevent fraying.
Will it slide on a hardwood hallway floor? +
The jute base offers more grip than a synthetic backing, but a thin rug pad adds extra hold on very smooth floors.
How often should I vacuum it? +
