About the Aldergate Stair Runner
Stairs and hallways get walked more than any other floor in the house, so the Aldergate is woven with a low, tight wool pile instead of a thick plush one. A lower pile means less give under a shoe, which matters on a step edge where a thick rug can bunch or shift. The wool itself is the same New Zealand grade we use across the line, just woven at a denser, flatter setting. The edges are reinforced with cotton so the runner lays flat against the stair nose instead of curling up over time, a common problem with unfinished rug edges on stairs. We cut every runner to the length you order, so there's no leftover roll to store or trim yourself. It's a practical piece for a part of the house that takes constant use.
